What a great place. This was an old house that was redone into a restaurant and overlooks the lake. The view is calming and relaxing. The food is a wow factor as well. The owner was so nice and told me all about when he used to live in the Dallas area. The service here was top notch!! you go guys for all the hard work you did inside and on the patio. I will say I was surprised to know our waiter had tables in side as well as the patio and he was still on top of his game all night. Started off with a nice glass of white wine.. We started off with the Melanzana Rollatino. This was a great choice as I love eggplant. Tt is stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese then topped off with a tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. ooo so YUMMY I then had a regular house salad with homemade dressing another yummy. I did get to try the house salad with Blue cheese and again very good. Oh here comes the waiter with our main courses... Veal was one and the other dish was scallops in a white wine sauce... Both dishes will MELT IN YOUR MOUTH!!! Ended it with a nice port wine (yummy) Ok well I cant say enough I dont feel anyone will be disappointed at all.

Excellent food and staff. This is a family owned restaurant and the food was great. Their original location burned but they have reopened in a strip mall but not sure of address but the phone number is the same.

The precise name of the restaurant remains a mystery to me. However, when I visit Hot Springs again, this place will be at the top of my list of places to eat. First and foremost, the food is excellent. The social atmosphere was also very welcoming. While waiting to be seated, a staff member was very friendly. Then he "introduced us" to the floor manager, who welcomed us with "at home" good nature. The waitress was candidly charming. Usually waiters say what the employer wants them to say, and maybe J's told our waitress to tell us "the truth." It was delightful to have a discussion with a waitress who could discern our respective tastes and then recommend specific entrees to match our appetite. When we left, we felt like we were leaving the home of good friends.

On our second night in town, the kids all wanted Italian food, and not from Olive Garden or a chain. So my parents suggested we try this place. Our table was near the windows that overlooked Lake Hamilton. There were 8 of us and the service was excellent. I had the chicken parmigiana and my wife had the lobster pasta. Both portions were huge, but very good. The atmosphere, views and food make this a must stop when in town.

This was our first visit to J and S Italian Villa. What a wonderful experience. The host was as likable a gentleman as they come. The food was wonderful. Full of flavor, fresh, and not the usual Italian fare. We started with the bruschetta. From the first bite, we knew we were in for a treat. For an entree, I had the special bacon wrapped pork. IT was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was casual, but also quiet and romantic. We will definitely be back.

Wow, we were truly blown away with this place. My brothers birthday, so again, it is me, my wife, sister inlaw, and brother. We are known for going all out when we go out, and this was no exception. We had 8:30pm reservations after the races. When we arrived in our taxi(though they have free valet parking), we were immediately were taken to our table, and given water service etc.. While the outside just looks like any older "lakehouse" you may see on lake Hamilton, you are instantly taken to someones grandparents house in Italy. Full Bar service, with an excellent wine list. Beer list as expected all the standards. The Menu is a wonderful blend of Northern and Southern Italian Fare. Once again we ordered 5 courses per diner, and once again blown away with virtually everything. Brother gave the Veil dish he ordered a 9 of 10, Sis inlaw 9 of 10 on her crusted fish w/ pasta, Wife 10 of 10 on her hand pinched, huge, and stuffed lobster ravioli dish. I opted for one of the Chefs daily specials. A Marinated rack of Lamb over mashed red potatoes and delicious marinated green beans 10 of 10 cooked rare "warm" to perfection. I will eat here EVERY time I am in town, which may me much more now that I know about J's. Professional Waitstaff Dark lit romantic ambiance Excellent Food/Drink 5 courses for 4 + Dozens of Cocktails, beers, and glasses of wine = about $500.00 before tip and well worth every penny for a dining experience of a lifetime.

I went with my dad to this establishment and thought the atmosphere and food were excellent. Js is in a home that was redesigned for their restaurant and it overlooks one of the lakes in Hot Springs. Very good views (even though someone sold land near them and have built condos which depending on where you are sitting, you might have a view of more of the condos than the lake). I ordered the Eggplant Pram. which was HUGE. This is one of my favorite Italian dishes of all time and I was amazed at how big the portions of the food there was. They definitely do not skip on food. I will definitely get this dish again. The waitress and staff were very nice and attentive. During the evening I saw one employee helping walk an elderly patron to the bathroom which was very nice in my opinion. Since it is built out of an existing house there are several rooms and you might get lost going to the bathroom. They have an outside patio overlooking the lake. No one was eating out there at this time (it was like 40 degrees), but folks were going outside with their drinks and having a good time laughing and chatting with friends and dates. I believe you have to have reservations (we had them, but it was also a Friday night and it was getting busier as the night went on so I don't know if they are required or not). The owner saw my dad and said hello to him. My dad informed me that he had not been to this restaurant in quite some time so I was amazed at how he remembered my dad. Other staff were great and I heard stories of Bill (President Clinton) growing up in Hot Springs. They have valet services. They have a built ramp to get into the restaurant as well (it WAS in old house)... I saw the bar as I was leaving. It was packed. Looked well stocked. Didn't go there...had that parental unit with me... Excellent place to take a date. More upscale than other chain Italian restaurants. Jeans won't look good in here... Good place to take small office party (I saw a table that seated about 15-20). Since Hot Springs is a destination for newlyweds and anniversary couples I would say this is the place to go. Candlelight, romantic, etc. Have a great time!

Was immediately greeted when walking in the door. The staff was prompt and friendly. The decor is somewhat cheap in nature, but the chairs, tables, and silverware are all higher quality. The appetizer (stuffed mushrooms) came out within 5 minutes and were tasty with great spaghetti sauce. But not "that good" for the price tag . The complimentary bread tastes really good. The stuffed chicken breast with a brandy based cream sauce (Chicken Verona) is to die for! Did not ask for desert as I had no room left. The cost is about the same of a 5 star, but this place is only 4 at best.

Ate here last year on our annual trip to pick up campers at Ozark. What an extraordinary surprise. Authentic and delicious food with fantastic service. Don't be deterred by the exterior strip mall appearance. The experience inside will not disappoint. Plan to return tonight! Did return and outstanding once again! Thanks Bill! See y'all next year!

We had a large family dinner here last night (11 people). I have to say it was the best dinner we had in Hot Springs. The food was great. I would definitely eat here again. The ambiance is very relaxing. Black table cloths with candles and low lighting. We started with the calamari and the bruschetta appetizers. Both were great. Probably the best bruschetta I've had ever. For dinner I had the capellini pescatore, my husband had the linguini sea scallops and my niece had the tortellini alla pana. All were excellent. My pasta was FULL of seafood. There was no shortage of meat in our dishes. The garlic bread was a good compliment to the meal. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is due to: 1. Us needing to ask for bread every time we needed a refill or even initially 2. The length of time from when we finished our salads to when our meal was delivered was WAY too long. Around 30 minutes in between. With small kids that is a crazy amount of time to just sit. I would definitely recommend and also return!!!

Like other reviewers have said, don't be fooled by the location or semi-cheesy exterior. We sat at the bar and had a great meal with live music playing in the background. The lobster ravioli was wonderful as was the ziti. I would definitely go back.

Excellent food & service! Meatballs tasted like Mom's. Waiter recommended wines to accompany dishes that each of us selected. Italian Wedding cake was some of the best I have ever had; very moist and large enough for my husband & I to share this dessert entree.

Don't let the location fool you, this place is a fantastic Italian restaurant. The ambiance is romantic, service is great, and the food is delicious. The escargot appetizer was cooked perfectly, served in a white wine sauce. I also highly recommend the Pollo Rollatino for an entree. 5 stars, definitely would recommend!

Strengths: Great dining area where you are not on top of each other. Great menu without the typical boring Italian offerings (Spaghetti and meatballs). Opportunities: Although bar area is separate from dining area, it is very loud. Overall: Very impressed. I would come here again.
Place is excellent. Don't let the location or the outside deter you. GO IN! We had calamari, salad, garlic bread and mixed seafood with angel hair pasta. We also had house Pino Grigio. It was all excellent. The service and ambiance were also amazing.

My boyfriend and I came to Hot Springs on a mini romantic getaway and we found this restaurant. The nice ambiance was really nice, the music dim lights, perfect mood even the bruschetta for the appetizer..however I felt like it was a switch and bait! The main course was absolutely awful I had the lobster ravioli which was extremely hard and my boyfriend had the grouper which was over cooked and unpleasant!!! But I think this is a nice restaurant we jus ordered the wrong stuff!!!!

Don't be turned off by the location and strip-mall appearance. Food and service is great. Handmade sauces crafted with each entree- not pre-made. The chef introduced himself to each table and asked for suggestions and comments. Lovely surprise. Wine list pretty good as well.

If you are looking for REALLY good dining in Hot Springs, this place is it! Don't be confused by its new location - the restaurant inside and amazing food are just as great and gourmet as ever! Fresh beautiful flavors, absolutely delicious sauces (even the house salad dressing impressed me by innovative flavor combination "with a kick" - it was soooo good!), beautiful presentation, nice ambiance and very friendly attentive service. We celebrated my friend's b-day there last night - everyone commented oh how wonderful their dinner was. We had a number of appetizers - all delicious; and I had the salmon - fantastic!!! Overall, it was such a pleasant and satisfying experience. Will definitely be back when visiting Hot Springs.

Incredible food, friendly staff, laid back atmosphere. In travelling for work this place was suggested by a local and in 3 weeks I've been back 3 times. Great value and I can't go on about the food and staff enough to do it justice. A must visit if you're in the area and worth a detour if you're not.

Awesome! Ate here based on yelp reviews and was not disappointed at all. Its fancy but they don't have a strict dress policy so even a hat would be ok:). The garlic bread was awesome!!! Margaritas were overpriced and had little alcohol but I didn't expect the best from Mexico in Italian. Recommended!

Went here based on reviews, and we weren't disappointed. The bruschetta was among the best I have ever had, and both of our entrees were great. I had the scallops and my husband had Fettuccine Alfredo. He did say that the chicken that he added was a little overdone, but the sauce had a great flavor. Our waitress was attentive and nice. Would definitely recommend.

I ate here last night. Came in rather late, following a 3 mile hike and 4 days of camping. Needless to say, I looked pretty rough. Upon entering, I immediately took notice of the fine dining feel of the place while being graciously greeted by the host. I asked about my casual dress and he assured me that I looked just fine and was more than welcome. He was so polite and courteous. I sat in the bar area and was taken care of by the bartender on duty, who was equally as courteous and polite as the host. Soon after my waiter left, the owner, Sean, came by and welcomed me so warmly, as if I were someone important. Every guest that came in was greeted friendly and known on a first name basis, as I observed while I had dinner. This was the most outstanding service I have ever received from any restaurant. My husband and I, collectively, have been in the restaurant business for 20+ years and this place has topped all prior dining experiences. I dined alone but I will drive the 3 hours to eat here again as soon as I can. And all of this is just for the service. The food was just as well, so fresh and delicious, nicely plated and presented, and unique tastes of dishes I have had at other Italian restaurants. I had the bruschetta appetizer (which the owner actually covered the cost just to be nice) and the Fettuccini Primavera with potato soup. Every part of this experience was so comfortable and exactly what you hope to feel when dining out. Although I live 3 hours away, I will make a point to visit here as often as my schedule allows. This is definitively a jewel!!! I wish the best to the owner's success. Beautiful place. Beautiful staff! So grateful I found this place!

Best Italian restaurant we have found in Arkansas since Bruno's closed a few years ago; we haven't been to the new Bruno's yet. Since moving from Seattle back to Arkansas we have been looking for outstanding Italian; now we have found it! Pollo Verona is incredible, perfectly prepared. Chicken Alfredo was very tasty as well. Service was attentive without being intrusive.

Hot Springs-Who would have thought I would find such a gem? Took a quick trip to Hot Springs to pick up large equipment for husband. Stayed a couple of nights to eat and check out the Bath Houses. J and S is in a strip mall. Now, I'm from Lubbock, some of the best places to eat in Lubbock are in lame strip malls...so I was reassured by the location. Ambiance is a bit fancy with white table cloths, candles, dressed up wait staff. But the attitude was not intimidating and we had a wonderful meal. Our waiter, Aaron, was helpful and funny. He really made our meal special. I ordered Hot Tea and he brought me a ramekin of honey that he popped into the oven to heat. How thoughtful is that? I'm giving this place 5 stars for Aaron. Meal-I recommend these items: Steak alla pepe with Congnac cream sauce. Cannoli, pollo Verona, chicken stuffed with spinach in brandy cream sauce. My little guy loved it to: Garlic bread arrived, 6 yr old exclaims- this so what I'm talking about. So ya, Hot Springs, great Italian Food!

Decided to try yelp's #1 rated restaurant in Hot Springs our first night in town, and...it was a reminder that, more often than not, it's not a good idea to eat Italian food in the South. We started with the scallop appetizer, which is covered in a fairly tasty but very rich tomato cream sauce, with avocado slices underneath. The scallops were good. Next up came a Caesar Salad, which was ok, but not worth the $5 substitution fee that appeared on our bill. Entrees are $12-$30. I had the Giambotta. The Italian sausage was the only part of this dish I liked. The sauce was puckery sour, and the green beans they serve as a side are quite drab. Dinner for two with no alcohol was $58 plus tip. Neither the flavors nor the portion size lived up to the bill. This meal made we want for New York, Baltimore, Chicago, etc...

My boyfriend and I stopped to eat here on our way into town. This place was amazing! Our waitress Tabitha was extremely helpful and helped us figure out things to do in Hot Springs while we are here for a wedding. My boyfriend and I had the stuffed mushrooms, spinach ravioli, and calamari. All of it was absolutely amazing! Even the bread to start out with was phenomenal. Next time we are in Hot Springs we will make it a point to stop by here again. Great food and service.

Wow. Great Italian cuisine. First night house cab and eggplant parm. Fresh, not frozen and cooked to order. The bar tender " ken" was very professional and attentive. Second night, house cab, and house special, lamb shank. The best lamb shank I think I have ever had in my life. I traveled for the past 14 years for work an this is the first place I posted. I will be back.

Considering its in a strip mall this place is a hidden gem with a great menu. The onion soup was absolutely delicious and our waitress (Darlene) was very helpful and attentive. It's really nicely decorated inside. Could be doing with a little music to help create an atmosphere. But we did stop by later in the evening when it was quiet. Try the house chianti!

I ate here last night for the first time. I wasn't feeling that well, but everything I ate was fabulous....but that's besides the point. I just wanted to compliment our waiter, Aaron. He was one of, if not the best, waiter I have ever had. He was very professional, but not in a snobby way at all. He was just very personable and made us feel very welcomed. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave really good recommendations. I just can't say enough positive things about him!

We came here for our last dinner in Hot Springs. After spending a few hours at "The First Ever Eighth Annual World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade" in downtown HS, we really wanted a quiet, relaxing dinner. The owner was there to greet us when we arrived. He was very welcoming and sat us near a window overlooking Lake Hamilton. The waiter was quick to take our order and got us started with a couple of glasses of wine. We were then served up with warm bread and dinner salads. My entree, the Chicken Marsala was spot on. Very tender and cooked just right. We ended our dinner service with cannoli and creme brule. Perfect ending to a great night. After settling our check, we were then greeted again by the owner wishing us well.

I would recommend reservations on the weekend. We tried to go here Saturday, but was told it would be a 45 minute wait without reservations. We went back on Tuesday and was pleasantly surprised. It is in a strip mall, but don't let that scare you off. It is very nice inside. The food was incredible. The garlic bread was good. The veal parmigiana was very tender. The sauce had a sweet taste to it which I didn't expect , but it was very good. The cannoli was great too.

The new location just opened this week. I'm sure this restaurant will fare much better than the last 2 restaurants at the same location. I ordered the Soup of the day, and the Scallopini alla Parmigiana.. which were both delicious. Also tried the Linguini Vongole -- which was also delicious. A friend ordered the Penne Salsiccia -- which looked great, and he thoroughly enjoyed. Not sure what the wine was, but we all enjoyed it.. Excellent waitress, good atmosphere -- and we were kindly greeted by one of the owners when we arrived. Definitely going back soon!

My husband and I ate here tonight and thought the food was delicious. I'll admit we were hesitant to go inside as the restaurant is located in a strip center. The staff did a great job taking care of us from the moment we stepped in the door. My husband thought the Greek salad was one of the best he's had and was equally happy with the bread and manicotti. The Penne Arrabiatta was cooked to perfection. We will definitely eat here again!

First, let's be clear about the name. This is J & S Italian Villa--not J's, as Yelp indicates. It's named, I believe, for the two owners, Jamal and Sham. We had reservations for two at 7:00 on a Saturday evening. We arrived at 6:57, and it was crowded, but we were seated quickly. Despite having reservations, we were seated at a tiny table (really 4-6 inches too narrow for comfortable dining) in one of the most undesirable locations in the restaurant--right next to a service area. I faced the service area from which a bright light shone directly in my face. After we moved our table six inches toward a large corner "booth" area, the glaring light problem was alleviated. J & S bills itself as "fine Italian dining." But the glass table top, the ridiculously cheap-looking plastic and silk flowers on the table, and the container of sugar and sweetener packets would be much more at home in Waffle House than in a fine restaurant. And the noise level in our small room, both from the adjacent booth area and other tables, reminded me of a crowded bar on New Year's Eve. It was so loud that we actually asked to be moved in a desperate effort to have a conversation without yelling at each other. To their credit, our request to be moved was honored quickly, cheerfully, and apologetically. Our new table was marginally quieter, but it wobbled so badly that the wine sloshed out of our glasses. A waiter was summoned by the manager to shim a table leg, which solved the problem. Twenty-five minutes after being seated, we were informed that the bottle of wine we ordered was not available. Five minutes after making another selection, the wine finally arrived. It was another twenty minutes (50 minutes total) before our salad/soup course was delivered. While we were waiting for it, three tables were cleared in our general area, and the chemical smell from the glass cleaner was pervasive. It was at this point we decided we were grateful that our food order was slow because the chemical odor most certainly would have interfered with the taste. Deciding on our food order proved to be challenging, as the friendly, knowledgeable server launched into her practiced performance that detailed the specials for the evening. Even now my partner and I are uncertain whether four or six specials were available. A simple printed card would have resolved this issue satisfactorily. Ultimately, I had the cream of onion soup, and it was delicious. It would have been even better if it had been hot, but I settled for lukewarm. She whom I love had a dinner salad with creamy Italian dressing, which she classified as average. The accompanying garlic bread also was ordinary. My entree was one of the evening's specials--the Chicken Veron. It arrived piping hot, but the chicken was overcooked. Fortunately the ricotta cheese/spinach filling and the tasty cream sauce made the dry chicken palatable. My partner had the Chicken Vitello Monte Carlo, which she reported was above average. Both entrees came with a sad vegetable medley that obviously had been cooked and cooked until it lacked any semblance of texture and taste. Equally disappointing, no pasta side dish was anywhere to be found. Really, average was the theme of the entire evening. J & S aspires to be intimate, romantic, classy, and upscale. But the loud noise and poor table layout destroyed the romantic intimacy, and the cheap plastic flowers on the glass tabletop with the container of sugar and sweetener packets ruined any possibility of class. In fact, nothing stood out except the $109 price tag, after tax and tips. If you're looking for fine dining, this most assuredly isn't the place. If truly excellent Italian food is your goal, then keep looking. But if decent food in a crowded, loud atmosphere, complete with a credible beer/wine list and an eye-popping price is what you seek, J & S Italian Villa is the place to be!

We ate here at the recommendation of a local. We were not disappointed. The salad dressings are delicious, the chicken Verona was to die for, and my husband had an amazing seafood soup. Our waitress Sheryl was wonderful and knew her stuff. Wonderful experience!

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

(5)Shannon S.

Once again this is the BEST place for Italian food in Hot Springs. Sham, Jamal, Eric and Ann make this place happen for you..!!!! Veal and lamb shank hard to beat!!

We ate here at the recommendation of a local. We were not disappointed. The salad dressings are delicious, the chicken Verona was to die for, and my husband had an amazing seafood soup. Our waitress Sheryl was wonderful and knew her stuff. Wonderful experience!

(5)David R.

(5)Clayton M.
Incredible food, friendly staff, laid back atmosphere. In travelling for work this place was suggested by a local and in 3 weeks I've been back 3 times. Great value and I can't go on about the food and staff enough to do it justice. A must visit if you're in the area and worth a detour if you're not.
(5)Nathan H.
(5)Shannon S.

(4)Christin Y.
Like other reviewers have said, don't be fooled by the location or semi-cheesy exterior. We sat at the bar and had a great meal with live music playing in the background. The lobster ravioli was wonderful as was the ziti. I would definitely go back.
(4)S. Q.
Excellent food & service! Meatballs tasted like Mom's. Waiter recommended wines to accompany dishes that each of us selected. Italian Wedding cake was some of the best I have ever had; very moist and large enough for my husband & I to share this dessert entree.
(5)Lucy S.
(5)Hillari B.
DELICIOUS food! Great date night location. The inside has great ambiance. Prices are a little high but the quality of the food is unbeatable. Service was outstanding.
(5)Clay W.
Strengths: Great dining area where you are not on top of each other. Great menu without the typical boring Italian offerings (Spaghetti and meatballs). Opportunities: Although bar area is separate from dining area, it is very loud. Overall: Very impressed. I would come here again.
(4)Dana C.
The food was good but waited over an 1.5 hours to get your entrée served. I understand having food made fresh but there could be more prep beforehand.
(2)Shannon P.
Place is excellent. Don't let the location or the outside deter you. GO IN! We had calamari, salad, garlic bread and mixed seafood with angel hair pasta. We also had house Pino Grigio. It was all excellent. The service and ambiance were also amazing.

My friend and I had dinner here during our spa weekend. The dinner was excellent. Live music was a great added touch. The garlic bread = perfection!
(5)Sheryl J.
(4)Too S.
Don't be turned off by the location and strip-mall appearance. Food and service is great. Handmade sauces crafted with each entree- not pre-made. The chef introduced himself to each table and asked for suggestions and comments. Lovely surprise. Wine list pretty good as well.

(4)Scott R.
(4)John G.
